Our Coffee
We grow, mill and roast LIBERICA. We continuously improve every process to present you the true worth of this fine coffee. We also roast Arabica and blend some of the finest Arabica with our Liberica.
The Exotic Malaysian Liberica
Liberica has often been treated like the common Arabica and Robusta with disastrous results.
Our LIBERICA kebuns or micro farms are in Batu Pahat, the Liberica heartland of Malaysia.
At House of Kendal, we are deeply immersed in this mission to perfect the processing and roasting methods of LIBERICA.
The Coffee People
Deraman and Mariam Bako
Pioneers
The husband and wife team were traders and early pioneers of the settlement of Bagan, and later the town of Batu Pahat. They built the House of Kendal on wealth created from tobacco, betel nuts and coffee.
Adam Esham
The Milllenia Coffeenista
Adam represents the youth of the new century who find coffee as the things that make the world moves.
Munir and Sahim
Pickers and Carers
Munir and Sahim are from Bangladesh. They leave their family for years to find a living. Without them, coffee berries would bring no yield, and unfortunately, some farmers chop them down in favour of less labour intensive crops.
Lord of Kendal
The Storyteller
The storyteller connects the past with the present in anticipation of the future. Coffee to him is about relationships and friends, made through coffee diplomacy.
Ajes
Keeper of Tradition
Ajes is not a member of House of Kendal, but he has been the only traditional coffee processor and roaster left in the village. We learn a lot from Ajes. Without a processor like Ajes, farmers would have chopped down their trees.
Ang
Roaster Maker
Ang manufactures roaster machines in his backyard. Despite of limited knowledge and resources, Ang has been producing roaster machines by trial and error.
