The Liberica story is a sad story of agricultural neglect, much influenced by the industrialization of Malaysia, Before the 1990’s, the Malaysian Coffee research was in the world top league. In the 90s, under the the government industrialization policy, agriculture was de-emphasized, affecting research, marketing and utilization of labour. The coffee industry collapsed. Coffee trees fell victim to oil palm, the automobiles and the steel mills.
The few crazy coffenistas now are determined to revive this industry and present to the world coffee community the exotic and unique single origin coffee from Malaysia. Through our alliance with other coffee enthusiasts in ASEAN exotic coffee varieties from ASEAN are also available here.
